The mentorship program is Africode’s flagship. It is our way of giving back to Africans in the tech industry, by realizing the potential of tech newcomers and leveraging the expertise of tech veterans.

Our Goals
Africode is dedicated to delivering substantial value to mentees by the conclusion of their mentorship program. Each mentee will define a specific end goal, which may include:

Securing a job, internship, or promotion within the tech industry.

Gaining admission to a new Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. program in a tech field.

Launching a new tech company, program, or product.

Attaining a leadership position in a tech-focused group, club, or program.

Program Benefits

Become a Mentee

The goal of this program is to connect Africans working in the Tech industry with African students aspiring to work in the industry.
Program Structure
Rather than a traditional one-on-one mentorship pairing, Africode will implement mentorship pods where each mentor will guide 2-3 mentees. This structure aims to:

Enhance engagement and networking among mentees.

Broaden mentor exposure to diverse backgrounds and personalities.

Increase the number of mentees supported by a fixed mentor cohort.

Minimum Requirements

What is required of you?

Currently enrolled in an associate, bachelor, master, doctoral or postdoctoral program in a technical field of study (e.g computer science)

Have a clear academic or career goal to pursue during the entire mentorship program.

Complete and submit monthly reports detailing your progress toward achieving your goal.

Meet with mentor at least once a week (virtual).

Attend at least 3 Africode-X sessions during the program.

Provide monthly feedback on the mentorship experience.

Frequently asked questions

To become an Africode mentee, you must be enrolled in a college, university, or computer science bootcamp program, and be studying Computer Science or a related field.
You can expect guidance in areas such as networking, career planning, skill development, and academic growth. Our mentors are experienced professionals who will help you navigate your unique path to success.
You need to attend at least 3 Africode-X sessions during the year, devote an hour per month to connect with your mentor and mentee pod, and be an active contributor in the Africode Forum. Additionally, you must complete and submit monthly progress reports.
As an Africode mentee, you gain access to expert connections, academic guidance, and networking opportunities with mentors and mentees from various companies and schools. This support system helps you build a solid foundation for your tech career.
